Are you making a living doing what you love or are you just making money?
Those are two very different things but they don’t have to be. Imagine a life where you can rediscover your passion and earn money doing what you love.
It wouldn’t even seem like work, would it?
Have you ever felt like you get up, go to work, come home, do the usual, go to bed and then rinse and repeat? It’s like going through life like a robot with very little fulfillment.
That’s exactly where I was a few years ago. I felt so empty and unfulfilled, going through my daily life with no real passion. I decided to make a change.
Taking the time to rediscover my passion was the best thing I ever did and my life changed in a big way.
Today I am sharing 5 things that I did to rediscover my passion and start living a life that I love.
Believe in Yourself and Rediscover Your Passion
The possibilities in life are endless if just open our minds to what is possible. The problem is that most of us are so caught up in our lives that we forget about our true purpose in life and developing in the best version of ourselves.
1 – Slow Down to Rediscover your Passion
Have you ever just taken some time to slow down and meditate? Meditation comes in many forms, not necessarily the sit lotus style.
I make a point of either running or going for long walks on my own. That’s my meditation and it really helps me to reconnect to me. By tapping into your inner self, you can discover what is really important to you in life.
Meditation also helps you with mindfulness throughout the day. Being mindful means this:
“Mindfulness means paying attention in a particular way;
On purpose, in the present moment, and nonjudgmentally.”
No matter what was happening in my life, no matter how crazy things were, meditation and mindfulness helped me to experience life in a more positive way.
Just picture yourself enjoying these quiet moments without the outside noise of the world. That’s when you can start rediscovering your passion and purpose in life.
2 – Push Out of your Comfort Zone and Past Your Fears
Fear can be the killer of dreams. I found that out the hard way. I was so fearful about talking to people about my business, that I was the one who failed.
We can make all the excuses in the world to justify our inaction in life, but they are just excuses.
If only I had more experience I could talk to people about my business.
If only I had more time I could build a successful business.
If only I had more money to invest.
If only, if only.
It’s easy to make excuses isn’t it? It’s hard to just take action and get things done.
That was me.
But through hard work on me, I pushed out of my comfort zone beyond my fears. When I admitted what my fears were, only then was I able to move forward to live a life that I love.
3 – What’s Your Story
What’s your story? No, really!
We all have a story. The problem is that the story we stick too is usually self-limiting.
You know what I mean. “I’m not good enough.” “Who will listen to me?” “I am not smart enough.” “I can’t do this.”
And on and on.
When we continue to tell ourselves this sad story, we cannot rediscover our passion because we will never feel good about ourselves.
I have one piece of advice for you: Change your story!
That’s right. Start telling yourself a new story. “I am better than good enough.” “I will help so many people that will be happy to listen to me.” “I am very smart and can do anything I put my mind too.”
I was raised by parents that told me I could do whatever I put my mind to. I didn’t always believe that until I really started working on me.
To live a life you truly love, start working on a new story for your life.
4 – Believe in You
Henry Ford once said, “Whether you think you can, or you think you can’t–you’re right.”
If you don’t believe in yourself, why would someone else? Maybe you think that you will fail. That is only true if you never start.
Believe in yourself and the value you can bring to others. Start focusing on the life you want and take action on your plan to make it happen.
5 – Have Fun as You Rediscover Your Passion
Remember when you were a kid and you had fun all the time? As an adult, you can still have fun!
When you make a living doing something that you are passionate about, it’s fun. It hardly feels like work.
When you help others live a life of their dream and rediscover their passion, it’s fun!
If you are not having fun in your life, it’s time to take a step back and re-evaluate your life.
One day I woke up and realized that I wasn’t enjoying my own daily life. So I re-evaluated.
Was I happy?
Was I satisfied with my life?
Where was my life going and was that where I wanted it to go?
That’s when you really have to ask yourself:
Do you have a plan to change that?
Conclusion
Rediscovering your life’s passion means taking a big step back in order to take a big step forward.
We can achieve so much more in life when we align with our purpose.
