Ever feel like there are blogging secrets that others know but you don’t? Maybe you’ve been blogging for a long time but success is always out of reach.
Growing your business through blogging is a good decision but if you are still spinning your wheels, how will you ever accomplish your goal?
Take the time to figure out a formula that works for you. Writing content, throwing it out there in the blogosphere and hoping it sticks is not the best strategy, yet many bloggers do this.
I’ve put together some blogging secrets to get you headed in the right direction with your online business.
Cultivating a Blogging Success Mindset
You are probably thinking “What does mindset have to do with blogging?”
Everything.
While learning the technical skills and techniques required for blogging is important, your mindset is more important.
Why is that?
The majority of people either don’t take action or don’t do enough to earn the rewards that come from blogging.
For example, I’ve personally spent time working with people who want to profit from blogging. Even though they know the foundational skills, they fail because of lack of follow through.
They slack on publishing new content, don’t promote in social media, or don’t bother with keyword research.
Also focusing on the wrong activities is a huge reason for lack of success.
How many times I hear new bloggers focusing for days and weeks on the header image of their blog, trying to get it just right.
But no attention is given to creating awesome content. This is your biggest blogging secret!
Focus on what matters, that is, creating awesome content. Most people access blogs from their smart phones and can’t see your header anyway.
You need a success mindset to help you establish a vision for your blog, and most important, follow through on the activities that will bring you success.
For example, when I first started a blog in 2009, I got no traffic and made no money. But I kept blogging.
Most people would give up.
I believed with my heart and mind in what I was doing and had a strong vision, so I kept going.
So glad I did!
The Simple Blogging Secrets That Wins Customers
Why do you even need a blog? Your blog is a key asset to drive traffic and make money. It’s an asset that you own and control.
Before I get into the blogging secrets, here are a few benefits of blogging:
- Source of high quality traffic
- Helps to cultivate relationships
- Simple to set up and maintain
- Your main hub on the Internet so people can always find you
Blog Business Model
These blogging secrets aren’t really a secret. They are the foundational steps that can take your blog to new heights. Most people don’t do these steps, but you will, right?
Keyword research
If you want to blog, keyword research is a must. What keywords and phrases are your audience searching for?
Finding relevant keywords is your first step before you ever write one word of blog content. To reach the right audience, you should be writing about topics that they are interested in.
The best blogging secret when it comes to keywords is to find phrases with good search volume and little competition.
This will help you stand out in search results.
Here’s an example of what happens without keyword research. When I first started blogging, I didn’t do it. Shame on me!
I would search for the phrases that I wrote about and get excited because I was on the Google page one.
But guess what? Not one person was searching for that keyword, just me. So being on page one of Google was insignificant because the blog content was not driving any traffic.
Lesson learned. Do your keyword research!
Write a blog post around the keyword
The next crucial blogging secret is now that you found some good keywords that are relevant to your target audience, write a blog post around that keyword.
For example, let’s say your keyword is “workout routines for men to lose weight”. That’s a wonderful long tail keyword!
Can you think of a helpful article to write that provides the information stated in the keyword phrase?
Write it yourself or hire someone to write it for you.
Present yourself as the go to expert and always offer solutions that will solve the problems of your readers.
This is how you establish yourself as the go-to expert and authority.
Capture your leads
The next most important step is to capture leads. Without this, you cannot do the other things like develop relationships or sell to your potential customers.
First, what do you want your readers to do? This is a key blogging secret because without, all your hard work will go down the drain.
Each post you write should have a carefully thought out call to action. You must lead your reader to take a particular action, whatever it may be.
- Like your Facebook page
- Get more information about a product
- Opt-in to your capture page
- And much more.
Without a call to action to do something, your readers will do nothing.
When readers opt-in to your capture page, you now have an email list that you grow through an email autoresponder!
Establish relationships
Have you subscribed to any email lists lately? Did you learn anything about the owner of the list?
You establish relationships with your readers through your list. Who are you and what are you about?
Your subscribers will get to know you through the emails you send via your autoresponder.
Be consistent in sending emails to your list.
Conclusion
Now that you’ve learned a few blogging secrets, which of these resonated most with you?
Perhaps the most important thing is to always keep your reader in mind. Is your post helpful to them in some way?
When you consistently show your audience there is something in it for them, they will keep reading and keep coming back.
But most of all, work on your success mindset. Don’t give up! I’ve seen it way too many times.
Stay in the game long enough to reap the rewards from blogging.
