In the network marketing profession, we all hear that our WHY is extremely important. In fact, network marketers talk about WHY as being the most important element of success.
There are hundreds of trainings and new distributer orientations all focused on your WHY.
In my experience, WHY is just not enough to succeed to at anything. It’s a start but there is a whole lot more to success.
I have talked to hundreds of people who know their WHY in detail, in fact, it’s very important to them. But it was not enough for them to propel themselves in the entrepreneur world and do the income producing activities every day.
Yet, we see MLM sponsors tell distributors every day to dig deeper into their WHY and that will help them to propel their business forward.
I think not.
Having a WHY and being passionate about something is important, but you must have the ability to turn your WHY and your passion into a viable, income producing business.
That is the key element that is missing from all these conversations about your WHY.
Your WHY in MLM is Just a Start
While having a WHY in network marketing is a good foundation, turning that into a profit producing business is the next step.
Other components to success include discipline, commitment, persistence, reaching outside your comfort zone, improving your skills and much more.
Many people give up in network marketing even though they have a strong WHY. But let’s face it friends, working for someone else is pretty easy right? You show up, do your work, and go home.
Owning your own business takes a whole lot more work, skill, and commitment than working for someone else. However the rewards are much greater in the long term.
Here are five steps to going beyond your WHY in network marketing:
1 – Start with your “WHY”
Yup, you still need a WHY. Have you read Simon Sinek’s book, Start With Why. I highly recommend it. It will give you a new perspective on WHY. Think about what it would look like to live your perfect day. Your WHY will help you though the tough times and remind you of the reason you started an MLM business in the first place.
2 – Create your vision
WHY is not enough. You should create a vision for your life. This is where you map a path for your professional and personal life. You can either choose to have someone else map it for you, or create it yourself. I prefer the second option: create it myself. The possibilities for your life are endless. What do you choose for yours?
3 – Get clear on what you’ve got to offer.
What can you offer to others? How will you help solve the problems that people face and bring value to their lives? It’s all about helping others.
4 – Create a plan.
How will you get there? That’s where your plan comes in. These are actionable things that you will do on a consistent basis to achieve your vision.
5 – Execute your plan
Do it. Most people get stuck here. They think about it, dream about it, but don’t actually do anything. Get out there and implement your actionable plan every day. You will be amazed at where your life can be in a year or two.
