I hear bloggers bragging all the time about all the traffic and share they get on their blog. My big question is always: what is your conversion rate?
All that traffic is nothing to brag about if you get zero results from it. You are probably tired from beating your head against the wall on this one.
The good news is that you can fix this with a few tips that will make a big difference. These conversion rate tips will help you to get better results with more of your traffic taking action on your website.
1 – Use Words that People Understand to Boost Website Conversion
Have you ever read a landing page or blog post with strange phrases or acronyms that you can not begin to understand? Me too! When that happens, I am gone in a flash.
Proof that people don’t respond to words they can’t possibly understand or words that simply exaggerate to the nth degree.
When writing blog articles or sales copy, be clear and keep the content simple. There is no need to sound like a rocket scientist after all!
When you’re writing sales copy, you want people to understand your message. Keep it simple.
Here’s some stuffy words that you should avoid when writing sales copy of any kind:
- State-of-the-art – what does that really mean to an individual? Does that term solve their problem?
- High-quality – well, I don’t know anyone that would say their product is low-quality.
- Powerful – it just means “very” so say the simple term.
- Ultimate – the best achievable or imaginable of its kind. Really?
You get the idea! Instead, let your readers know what the real value is that you are providing. Instead of touting your “ultimate” abc product, tell them your product “will change how you … [fill in the blank].”

2 – Boost Blog Conversion by Showing How Your Product is Unique
Everyone is selling something and likely similar to what you are selling! There is a lot of competition out there. Don’t let that dissuade you from moving forward! Just decide what makes your offer unique and different from the others.
Even if you had the same exact product, yours would be unique because of you!
Of course you wouldn’t want to give a list of differences or anything like that. Just focus on what sets you apart from the crowd.
Focus on the value a person will gain from your offer to help boost your website conversion rates.
Zeroing in on the strengths of your offer can provide visitors with a unique perspective that has them wanting more from YOU.
3 – Address Common Objections in your Sales Copy
There will always be people who have objections to your offer. You can nip this in the bud within your sales copy.
First, write a list of reasons why someone might hesitate to make a purchase from you. From that list, decide which would be the most common.
And don’t think there will not be objections, there always are!
One common reason is that someone doesn’t know you. Maybe they are hearing about you for the first time. To get ahead of this type of objection, explain your qualifications.
4 – Keep it Short and to the Point
I cannot read paragraphs that go on and on and on. Most people are reading your blog from their mobile phone. Big blocks of run-on text on a small mobile phone screen is a really Debbie Downer.
Keep your sales copy and everything on your landing page, short. What I mean is the words, sentences, and paragraphs. Forget paragraphs will 20 sentences. Break it up into a manageable structure that will support your message.
Your content will be easier to read and people will appreciate it! You cannot get better conversions rates if people don’t even stick around to find out what your offer is!
5 – Boost Conversion Rates with Easy Action Steps
Another solution for improving conversion rates is to make it easy for your visitors to complete the next step. That’s where they take action!
If this step is not easy, they won’t do it. For example, there have been times when I was interested in an offer and click the GO button. The next step required too much stuff for me to fill out. Keep it simple!
Conversion rates start dropping like flies if the fields on your signup form go beyond 4 or 5 fields.
Boosting your blog conversion rates will make the difference to whether or not you earn an income. It’s not about how much traffic you get, it’s about how much of that traffic you convert into leads, subscribers, customers or something else.
